Muzak presents 2,500 grant for music program at Pittsburg elementary school

A Pittsburg elementary school is awarded a music grant and Friday the whole school took time to celebrate.

The Muzak Heart and Soul Foundation presented Meadowlark Elementary with a $2,540 grant.

The school’s music teacher, Lacy Mikrut, applied for the grant last summer.

It will be used to purchase a 43-piece drumming package as well as the “Peanut Butter Jam” drumming classroom kit.

“I thought it was very import because I think so much of the kids here and I think that any opportunity that they get to explore a wide array of curriculum, world curriculum, even through music, they deserve that chance,” Mikrut says.

The Muzak Heart and Soul Foundation presented 15 schools nationwide with a grant.  Meadowlark was the only Kansas school to receive the grant.
